Development status of insulating glass market

since the Ministry of Construction No. 76 document was issued in October 1999, the consumption of insulating glass in China's construction and other markets has increased significantly, especially since the country vigorously promoted energy-saving plastic steel products, the application of insulating glass in the market has been widely popularized, and the market consumption has increased by leaps and bounds

according to incomplete statistics, the consumption of insulating glass in China's market was about 700000 square meters in 1995. Until 1997, the market consumption has been hovering around 1.5 million square meters. In 1998, the market consumption was about 3million square meters, reached 5million square meters in 1999, and exceeded 10million square meters by 2000. The market consumption is almost doubling. With the shear test institution placed on the guide bracket on the side of the host machine, the country attaches great importance to the promotion of energy-saving products. It is estimated that in 2001, the domestic market demand for insulating glass will be close to 20million square meters, and the market application of insulating glass products has entered a period of rapid development

The expansion of market demand has driven the development of relevant materials, supporting equipment and production technology. According to incomplete statistics, by 2000, there were more than 150 imported insulating glass production lines and about 400 sets of simple equipment made in China. The application of product varieties from simple single sealed aluminum strip method to double sealed aluminum strip method and elbow technology and the introduction and application of new energy-saving product Shiwei high adhesive strip insulating glass have greatly promoted the development of insulating glass product technology, improved the quality of products, and made the market of insulating glass products develop healthily. The market of insulating glass in China is gratifying and encouraging. At the same time, we should also be sober to see that there are still some misunderstandings in the process of market development, which deserve the attention of people of insight:

first, the irrational market competition

generally speaking, with the increase of market capacity and the production of more manufacturers, the market competition will be fierce, which will promote all production enterprises to improve product quality and reduce unit product consumption and various management costs, Improve the ability of market competition and obtain survival and development space in the market competition. At present, there is an abnormal phenomenon in the domestic market competition. On the one hand, the products required by users are cheap but ignore the high quality, which makes some manufacturers, especially the manufacturers of raw materials, blindly reduce the cost of materials and ignore the quality of products, or shoddy products, taking advantage of the fact that most consumers do not understand how to identify the quality of products, Deceive the majority of consumers  on the other hand, the production of products rushed into mass action, and enterprises flooded the market with low-cost and low-quality products, resulting in confusion in market operation to a certain extent. According to the survey, by 2000, less than 50% of the domestic manufacturers of insulating glass had production equipment, and most of the other manufacturers produced single channel sealing products, and in the production process, they could not produce in strict accordance with national standards. As stipulated in the national standard, the thickness of the insulating glass adhesive layer is 8 ± 2mm for single channel sealing and 5 ~ 7mm for double channel sealing, so as to ensure that the insulating glass has sufficient edge sealing capacity and service life. However, the thickness of the insulating glass sealing adhesive layer on the market is no more than 5mm for single channel sealing and double channel sealing, and such products can only ensure the service performance of less than 50% of the insulating glass. As the sealant of insulating glass raw material, in order to ensure the sealing performance, the proportion of raw rubber must reach more than 22%. However, the content of raw rubber of some manufacturers' sealant and some domestic adhesive strip manufacturers is less than 17%. Such products are difficult to ensure the performance of insulating glass. But even so, there is still room for market sales. Some manufacturers use such raw materials to produce products, which impact the market at an incredibly low price. As a result, insulating glass products that should have been used for at least five years began to fail within two years, seriously affecting the image of high-quality insulating glass products and market sales. This is a problem worthy of our serious consideration

II. Insufficient understanding of insulating glass

due to the short production history of insulating glass in China, although the popularity of products is fast, the popularity of relevant technology and basic knowledge of quality is insufficient. Some people also regard the double-layer glass produced by foam strips as insulating glass or call insulating glass laminated glass. Due to market reasons and residents' purchasing power and other reasons, in the mid-1990s, buildings in some areas began to use a kind of foam double glass, which sandwiches the foam spacer between the two layers of glass. In a short time, such a product will appear impurities such as water and dust between the two layers of glass. Some people, including some producers, call it hollow glass, which are two fundamentally different products. For real insulating glass products, the sealant with low water vapor permeability, strong aging resistance and sealing performance is used at the edge, which can ensure that the interior of insulating glass will not fog for at least 5 years

III. insufficient attention is paid to architectural glass

from the perspective of the structural development of the building itself, in order to improve the comfort of the living environment and increase daylighting, the area of doors and windows gradually increases. According to the current proportion, the area of doors and windows accounts for more than 20% of the building area, of which glass accounts for more than 70% of the area of doors and windows. In terms of the proportion of energy loss, 70% of the energy loss of buildings with huge industrial development space is lost from doors and windows. At present, the three properties of the project (air tightness, water tightness and wind pressure resistance) are emphasized in the process of completion acceptance of construction projects

with the introduction of some laws and regulations by the state and many provinces and cities, insulating glass products and safety products that emphasize building energy conservation have been introduced. As a construction unit or construction supervision unit, in the process of project inspection, guidance, reading and acceptance, we should consider the safety performance and service life of door and window frame materials and building construction, and take the performance and service life of insulating glass products as one of the standards of project acceptance if the statistics and analysis of data meet the requirements in the medium term. As industry associations and relevant departments of the industry, while actively discussing the technological development of relevant products in the industry, they should cooperate with the national law enforcement departments to determine the technical indicators and service life of various products, so as to promote all kinds of production enterprises to improve product quality and make the competition of products embark on the track of a virtuous circle. It is believed that through our joint efforts, China's insulating glass market will surely embark on the track of benign development
